If you're catching up on Tuesday's election, the libraries had a good night. Ishpeming Carnegie Public Library passed its first millage in its 122-year history, by nearly a 3-to-1 margin. The money covers operations like staffing, programming and supplies, plus capital improvements such as books, audiobooks and building maintenance.
Peter White Public Library's recurring millage passed too, and Ishpeming elected a new mayor. Brad Argall beat Jason Chapman, and Negaunee's mayor's seat went to Jon Becker. Argall said he wants to "find additional ways to support it so the entire burden doesn’t have to go on Ishpeming taxpayers."
Argall and Becker won their mayor's races
