- ➤ North Words and Music is coming up at 6:30 p.m. March 5 at the Peter White Public Library’s Community Room. Storyteller B.G. Bradley, poet laureate Marty Achatz, actress Jacque Love, and house band Big Lake Acoustic (featuring Linda Smith and Seamus Collins) will present readings and music. The Mining Journal
- ➤ MooseWood hosts a book reading and signing of 'There's Gnome Place Like Marquette' at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 14 to benefit MooseWood Nature Center, while Brian Roell from DNR will discuss Michigan's large carnivores at the Community Room of Peter White Public Library at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 24. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ NHS has named the first semester honor roll at Negaunee High School for the 2025-26 school year. The roll lists students in grades 9 to 12 who earned all As (with grade distinctions) in recognition of their academic excellence. The Mining Journal
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Superiorland Ski Team, coached by Dave Slette, repeated as state champions by winning the Michigan Junior Nordic Championship on Saturday, Feb. 28 in Traverse City – they also earned titles in the boys Sprint and Pursuit events, marking their second consecutive win. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ Young lugers from across the Midwest competed in the Junior Midwest Luge Championships in Negaunee this past weekend, with top athletes including Brock Bartol of the U.S. Luge Team. Local sledders and visitors filled the stands, and the track remains open to the public — weather permitting for extra runs. WZMQ 19
