- ➤ The Negaunee public library is giving away leftover meals from the summer's Gather 2 Grow program due to food insecurity from paused SNAP benefits. - ➤ Marquette City's winter parking ban began November 1st and will last until April 1st, so cars cannot be parked on streets from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. Marquette City Police say drivers should choose off-street parking to avoid $75 fines or towing when snow accumulates—helping road crews clear streets safely. - ➤ Aspirus Health is warning that counterfeit pills may hide fatal doses of fentanyl after the DEA found half of the pills seized last year had a lethal amount—health experts advise using only medications from accredited pharmacies and calling for help with Naloxone if overdose signs occur. - ➤ Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital launched a program to help families and government workers affected by SNAP benefit cuts and a shutdown by opening its cafeteria on November 3 to serve free breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and free lunch from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at SouthTown Café. Each participating household receives a dozen eggs, a gallon of milk, and a loaf of bread weekly—measures aimed at meeting essential nutrition needs. WZMQ 19

- ➤ Michigan Tech men’s basketball won two overtime games at the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame Classic in Florida over the weekend, defeating Lenoir-Rhyne 66-65 and Dallas Baptist 75-70—earning the Huskies a 2-0 start to the season. Coach Josh Buettner said the team was proud of its grit—and they will face Missouri-St. Louis on Nov. 14 and Maryville on Nov. 15. WZMQ 19
- ➤ NMU’s sophomore forward Ian Weimer scored in three straight matches and earned GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week by hitting game-winning goals in wins over Roosevelt and Purdue Northwest—boosting the Wildcats' best season finish as they now prepare to host their quarterfinal match on November 9. This award marks a career high for Weimer as he leads the team into the postseason. WZMQ 19
- ➤ Northern Michigan University women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day today with a 1 to 0 win over Parkside in Marquette—senior Kenna Alexander scored the only goal and head coach Erin Egolf praised how this win builds a legacy for the team. They added six points over the weekend with a 5 to 1 win at Roosevelt and are now closer to securing a home game in the GLIAC postseason. WZMQ 19
- ➤ Michigan Tech shut out St. Lawrence 3-0 on Saturday at Appleton Arena — Isaac Gordon, Max Koskipirtti and Kalem Parker scored while Owen Bartoszkiewicz made 28 saves for his first shutout this season. The Huskies are 5-3 overall and will face Northern Michigan and Marquette next weekend. WZMQ 19
