- ➤ The Prince of Peace Lutheran Church is hosting a fall bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 555 Riverside Road in Harvey—items include white elephant articles, pies, sweet breads, crafts, and tea, with all proceeds going to The Salvation Army. The Mining Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Lake Linden-Hubbell School Board contracted with the CCISD for interim superintendent services, and Jim Rautiola was named to serve until Dec. 8 after the previous superintendent left. The board met at 7:30 a.m. Friday and voted unanimously to secure these services+ ensuring the district meets state law requirements. The Mining Journal
- ➤ Marquette school districts and public school academies can apply today for a share of $10M in the Universal FAFSA Challenge, announced by the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential to require FAFSA completion for all graduating seniors — the grant funds will support evidence-based strategies and include an opt out option for qualifying students. - ➤ AA youth hockey teams from Marquette and Traverse City played at the Darren Hillier Memorial Iron Sticks Hockey Tournament at Lakeview Arena on Sunday, honoring Daren Hillier and raising about $100,000 over four years.
