- ➤ The Home Builders Association is hosting its Adopt a Family program and asking locals to donate food and gifts to help ten families chosen from nearly 30 applications. - ➤ The Marquette Symphony Orchestra Brass Quintet will perform its 'Dances for Brass' concert on November 1 at 7:30 p.m. in Reynolds Recital Hall—featuring early 20th century pieces and late Renaissance music adapted for brass. WZMQ 19

- ➤ The Civil Air Patrol’s Copper Country Squadron will host a cadet membership open house at Hancock Middle School—offering students aged 12 to 18 a chance to explore aerospace education and emergency services on Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Upper Michigan's Source

- ➤ Dozens gathered Monday to celebrate the opening of the nearly $10 million Mino Miikana Apartments in Baraga County (13 studio and 12 one-bedroom units). - ➤ NMU women’s soccer earned a 2-2 draw with Ferris State as Addison Frantti scored first and Ferris State took a lead before halftime, with Madison Bilbia tying the game on a corner kick later. WZMQ 19
- ➤ NMU Men's Soccer ended its four-game winless streak with a 3-0 win over St. Cloud State Huskies in Marquette—Ian Weimer scored with a header and Luca Rosen added a brace—and the Wildcats will play two home matches next weekend. WZMQ 19
- ➤ Northern Michigan University’s volleyball team split the weekend—winning a five-set match against Grand Valley State and losing to Wayne State, putting them in fifth place in the GLIAC. The Wildcats will host Michigan Tech at 6 p.m. today at Vandament Arena before traveling for matches in Chicago and Kenosha. The Mining Journal
- ➤ Three area teams have clinched spots in the MHSAA 11-man football playoffs — Marquette Sentinels, Negaunee Miners and L’Anse Purple Hornets will play road openers at 7 p.m. EDT Friday while aiming to advance through up to five rounds to state finals in November. The Mining Journal
