- ➤ Marquette’s First Presbyterian Church held its Fall Bazaar Saturday morning where vendors sold decorations, baked goods and winter wear to raise funds that will pay for expert repairs — including new pipes—to restore its 90-year-old organ. Upper Michigan's Source

- ➤ United Way of Marquette County’s VITA program said residents must open a bank account to get tax refunds by direct deposit before taxes are filed in February and March — paper checks are more likely to be lost or stolen — so people should act now. Upper Michigan's Source
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ NMU women’s swimmers and divers lost 138-104 to Grand Valley State today in a meet where the team earned 13 medals including five golds. Kalina Ceglinski won gold in both the 1-meter and 3-meter dives while other athletes grabbed medals in individual and relay races. WZMQ 19
- ➤ Freshman quarterback Elliott Larner scored four rushing touchdowns and one passing touchdown—leading Michigan Tech to a 56-17 win over Northern Michigan at the Superior Dome Saturday afternoon. The win extended the Huskies' Miner’s Cup streak to 15 titles—improving their record to 6-2 as the Wildcats fell to 1-7. WZMQ 19
- ➤ Northern Michigan University women’s cross country team finished second at the GLIAC Championships with five runners in the top-30 and four earning All-GLIAC honors—its best finish since 2017. Head coach Jenny Ryan said the team will travel to Kenosha on November 8 for the NCAA Midwest Regional race and aim to reach the NCAA Championship. WZMQ 19
- ➤ MSU Spartans beat NMU Wildcats 6—2 after a strong third period in which they scored four goals; 51 penalty minutes and 20 penalties marked the match as freshman goalie Melvin Strahl made 22 saves to secure the win. WZMQ 19
- ➤ The #8 NMU men’s swim and dive team won key races at Gerstacker Regional Aquatic Center by beating Saginaw Valley State 125—118 and Findlay 120—112. The Wildcats earned 16 podium finishes and individual medals, including a gold for Andrew Tease in the 100 breast and silver for freshman Timothee Garin in the 1000 and 500 free. WZMQ 19
- ➤ The NMU women's swim and dive team beat ranked Findlay with a score of 139 to 98 and defeated Saginaw Valley State 132 to 108 at Gerstacker Regional Aquatic Center. The Wildcats earned 19 podium finishes including a complete dive sweep and a gold medal by Emma Casas in the 100 back—showing strong performance against top competition. WZMQ 19
- ➤ NMU’s men’s swim and dive team lost 63—178 to GVSU on the road today and earned 11 podium finishes, with freshman Matteo Ballardin winning two races in the 200 IM and 200 fly. WZMQ 19
- ➤ The Michigan Tech hockey team swept Ferris State 4-2 at John MacInnes Student Ice Arena on Saturday and honored their 1975 NCAA Championship team during the first intermission — a 50-year reunion — before setting off for non-conference games in New York next weekend. WZMQ 19
- ➤ On Saturday, NMU lost a five-set volleyball match to Wayne State at Vandament Arena when the Warriors fought back from a hold to win 23 to 25, 25 to 21, 25 to 21, 9 to 25, and 15 to 17. Madison York had a career-high 18 kills and NMU fell to a 9-12 record while Wayne State moved to 16-4 — NMU will host Michigan Tech on Tuesday at 6 p.m. WZMQ 19
- ➤ Michigan Tech volleyball won a five-set match against Grand Valley State at SDC Gym on Saturday by dropping the first set 19 to 25, winning the next two sets 25 to 17 and 25 to 20, losing the fourth 15 to 25, and winning the final set 15 to 9. The victory improved their record to eight wins and twelve losses overall and five wins and four losses in GLIAC play, and the team will travel to Northern Michigan on Tuesday for a 6:00 p.m. match at Vandament Arena.
