The St. Louis the King Women’s Club will host its annual fall bazaar on Nov.
15th from 9 a.m.—2 p.m. at 264 Silver Creek Road in Harvey; the event will include a rummage sale, luncheon, bake sale and many vendors.
On Saturday, thousands of demonstrators lined U.S. 41 in Marquette for the second “No Kings” protest—showing their discontent with the current administration while local businesses were alerted to increased foot traffic.
Protesters also donated non-perishable items to food pantries even as some drivers reacted by yelling or emitting car smoke.
For 32 years, the Pretty Leaf Party has brought families together at Rose’s Roost Camp along the Escanaba River outside Cornell.
This year—featuring an owls theme—offers kids outdoor games and a nature walk in the woods.
St. Joseph’s Parish in Ishpeming will host its 99th annual bazaar at the parish hall from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct.
25 — vendors will offer unique hand crafts, a bake sale, basket drawings and a soup luncheon served for $7 at 11 a.m.
🎭 Culture
Northern Michigan University groups hosted their second annual Diwali on October 19th in Marquette to celebrate the triumph of light over darkness—families enjoyed Indian dinner, created Rangoli art, and watched Bollywood dances.
The festival brought together local communities through shared cultural traditions—highlighting unity and celebration.
🎓 Education
On Women in Construction Day at Northern Michigan University—female professionals led hands-on sessions to show hundreds of students new career paths in construction.
The event highlighted that although women represent only 11% of the workforce, the trade now offers more equitable job opportunities.
🏥 Health
The Marquette-Alger Regional Educational Service Agency is partnering with the Superior Health Foundation to launch a new wellness task force to boost mental, physical, social, and behavioral health in the area.
The group will meet on October 30th at 8:00 a.m. at the MARESA offices on 321 East Ohio Street — call ahead for reservations — and lunch will be provided.
