COMMUNITY NEWS

  • At Lower Harbor Park on Saturday morning, 137 community members walked to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s event raised over $33,000 toward its $60,000 goal—organizers said the funds will support education and research.  Upper Michigan's Source
  • Downtown Negaunee hosted Fall Fest on Saturday where families decorated cookies and visited a craft market — local businesses added pumpkin painting and other seasonal activities to mark autumn's arrival.  Upper Michigan's Source

HEALTH NEWS

  • More than 400 community members attended the 14th annual Superior Health Foundation Gala on Saturday in Marquette to support local nonprofits as they raised at least $80,000—funds that will help Trillium House provide care and Mariucci Family Beacon House offer nutritious meals to those in need.  Upper Michigan's Source

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, Northern Michigan finished 4th out of 23 teams at the Lucian Rosa Invite in Wisconsin. Senior Madi Szymanski led the Wildcats with a 9th-place finish in 21:37.1 & the team is set to climb higher in the national poll.  WZMQ 19
  • NMU Volleyball swept Roosevelt Saturday after winning three close sets 26—24, 27—25, and 25—22 with senior McKenzie Gruner tying her career high by notching 15 kills. The Wildcats improved to 3—9 and will play away against Saginaw Valley State and Lake Superior State next weekend.  WZMQ 19
