- ➤ Marquette Regional History Center will host its 4th Biennial Lake Superior Fiber Festival on October 4 from 9:30 to 4:30 p.m. The event will feature displays of quilts, knits and other fiber arts — along with a 12:30 p.m. fashion show where attendees can win door prizes. The Mining Journal

- ➤ Bay College and the Delta Area Transit Authority signed an agreement this fall to offer on-campus students a free bus ride to a local grocer every Tuesday—helping them pick up needed items and return safely to campus. Upper Michigan's Source

- ➤ Marquette Public Works has set new rules so carts must be placed at least three feet apart with handles facing the home because automated trucks need room to lift them—this change helps keep workers safe and avoid property damage. The city plans to enforce a parking ban on collection days in residential areas from 2 a.m. to 2 p.m. and in the business district from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. in about one month. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ The Iron Ore Heritage Recreation Authority and Michigan Department of Natural Resources will start grading and gravel work Monday in Ely and Humboldt townships along the Iron Ore Heritage Trail C Route from Negaunee to Republic. Trail users near the Tilden/Ely and Humboldt/Republic township lines should yield to heavy equipment as work is expected to finish in two weeks—state funds support the annual maintenance. - ➤ Technicians at UP Health System Marquette reached a tentative agreement after about 30 hours of bargaining on September 2 and 3— the contract offers wage increases of more than 18% over four years and three months and mirrors the nurses’ healthcare plan. - ➤ On September 5th, the Superior Health Foundation updated the community on its grant cycles and plans for a Fall Gala Celebration—program officers Nicky Bates and Hannah Holma explained that new funding supported a nurse examiner training program at the Women’s Center.
