- ➤ Today, the Marquette Women’s Center nears the end of its month-long Rocket Mortgage fundraising challenge and will accept donations until 4:59 p.m. The center has raised over $26,000 and is in third place — the first prize earns an extra $25,000, second earns $15,000, third earns $10,000, fourth earns $7,500, and fifth earns $5,000. - ➤ NMU student Trevor Forsythe from Dryden died on Aug. 21 due to diabetes complications while he studied multimedia production and worked as a broadcast director at WZMQ. - ➤ Marquette city officials are finalizing a $24.8 million budget for fiscal year 2026 that will fund current services and allocate $1.4 million for infrastructure maintenance. The proposal avoids raising property or income taxes by increasing water and sewer fees by $5.62 per month and must be approved by September 30 with public office hours on September 10.
