🎓 Education
Twenty-eight school districts in the Upper Peninsula were awarded nearly 2.5 million in state grants to support early literacy programs including teacher training, classroom materials and reading interventions.
The funding is part of an 87 million statewide effort to meet new literacy and dyslexia requirements.
🏥 Health
The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services advises older adults and those with health concerns to limit their alcohol intake because aging lowers the body’s tolerance and increases risks for falls and injuries—consulting healthcare providers is recommended to avoid dangerous medication interactions.

The 26th annual Ore to Shore Mountain Bike Epic started Friday evening in Marquette with nearly 2,500 riders and community members gathering at Lakeview Arena for registration, a spaghetti feed run by the Negaunee Lions Club, and merchandise.
Races will continue today starting at 8:00 a.m.+ organizers are still seeking volunteers for the youth events tomorrow.
