- ➤ The Marquette County Fair has returned for its 35th year in Gwinn with three days of livestock shows, live entertainment, food and family-friendly activities. A brand-new clubhouse opened Thursday morning—funded by state grants and local contributions—and will host archery events, a talent show and a cooking competition. WZMQ 19
- ➤ The Forsyth Township Public Library will host a fundraiser on Saturday at Peter Nordeen Park in Gwinn from noon to 3 p.m. Families can enjoy a used book sale, a brat and hot dog lunch, music by Big Lake Acoustic, and free ice cream provided by local grants — if it rains, the event will move inside the library. - ➤ Marquette County Solid Waste Management Authority collected hazardous waste from residents on Thursday at the county landfill, including old paint cans, batteries, and household chemicals as part of an effort to protect the environment. - ➤ Limestone Financial Credit Union warned that a text scam is sending messages that falsely report suspicious debit activity — recipients are asked to confirm transactions, risking exposure of account details. The credit union said even non-members may receive these texts and urged anyone who gets them to report the message immediately — no personal banking details will ever be requested via text. - ➤ Marquette City Commission held a special all-day meeting Thursday to review the preliminary 2026 fiscal year budget and discuss fund management and revenue challenges—officials said final budget adoption is scheduled by September 30. - ➤ Kids with Type 1 diabetes are having fun today at Camp UPeninsulin on Clear Lake where they play games and enjoy activities while managing their blood sugar.
