Peanut, a rescue dog who saved a three-year-old girl in 2017, died at age 9 from Evans syndrome—she had been a loyal friend to the Frisks in Rapid River.

She was rescued from abuse at Delta Animal Shelter—her life reminds us to value shelter pets.

On Thursday night, a plane made an emergency landing on M-28 near Star Siding Road after its engine blew mid-flight—no injuries were reported as Michigan State Police, Alger County Sheriff’s Office, and Munising Fire Department responded and the aircraft was towed to Hanley Field Airport in Wetmore.

Music rang in Allouez on Sunday at Farm Block Fest—an annual camping and music event celebrating its 17th year while raising funds for the Dan Schmitt Gift of Music Foundation, which will provide free music lessons to youth.

The festival featured 25 artists across various genres and also offered workshops on woodcarving and gardening.

On Sunday, about 160 people ran and walked in the second Annual Donut Dash in Marquette to raise money for first responder mental health; funds raised will help cover costs such as copays and transport to treatment.

The event also recognized teams of first responders with awards.

Spectators and athletes gathered at Tourist Park in Marquette this past weekend for the U.S. National Guts Frisbee Tournament in which 22 teams from the U.P., lower Michigan, and Wisconsin competed.

Team Monte Carlo, including Tyler Turcotte (from Hancock), won a match in the loser's bracket and will continue playing in the tournament.
