- ➤ U.P. City Fest kicked off yesterday at Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette — the free, family-friendly event features music, activities and speakers with a positive Christian message and will continue through Sunday. Sunny 101.9
- ➤ The 6th annual UP City Fest is coming to Marquette today from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., offering free live music, BMX stunt riders, food and speeches (by Green Bay Packers Chaplain Shawn Hennessy and Pastor Lorenzo Sewell) centered on Jesus and his teachings. - ➤ UPAWS and Kognisjon Bryggeri joined forces in Marquette to honor rescue dog George—transferred from a Texas shelter who now lives happily here—by launching George’s Superior Sunset, a cherry wheat ale with proceeds supporting animal care. - ➤ Visit Keweenaw and Michigan Aurora Chasers will host the inaugural Great Lakes Aurora Dark Sky Jamboree at the Keweenaw Dark Sky Park from September 11 to 14 in Houghton—Melissa Kaelin is set to deliver the keynote and a meteorite exhibit will be featured at the A.E. Seamen Mineral Museum. The four-day event will offer free twilight yoga on September 13—attendees can join a sky watch party at Breakers Beach and take part in beach clean-up efforts. - ➤ Syncurrent, a Marquette A.I. company, is working with the Michigan Municipal League to add its tool to the Michigan Funding Hub — an easy-to-use portal for state and federal grant opportunities.
