- ➤ Representatives from the Fair Food Network will visit the Marquette Food Co-op on July 17 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to explain how the Double Up Food Bucks program gives a dollar-for-dollar match on SNAP benefits to help families buy fresh produce — the co-op will host child-friendly activities to boost local awareness. - ➤ The Marquette Downtown Development Authority’s Music on Third Street event will start tomorrow on North Third Street from 6 to 9 p.m. with 16 local acts performing live—this series will run monthly through September while North Third is closed between Arch Street and Kaye Avenue for the event. - ➤ Michigan State Police said more than 21,600 vehicles were stolen last year even though theft rates dropped 15% since 2023—motorists should park in well-lit areas, lock doors, and hide valuables to prevent auto theft. WZMQ 19
- ➤ On Tuesday night, the Marquette County Board selected Duane DuRay as the new county administrator after two rounds of voting. DuRay, (the current manager at Sawyer Regional Airport) said he is ready to begin contract negotiations and plan a smooth transition. Upper Michigan's Source

- ➤ NMU student Elizabeth Neilson published her first memoir The Toll It Took, recounting her struggle with mysterious symptoms that ended her promising cross country career and led to a diagnosis of Covid-related nerve damage after doctors dismissed her condition — she wrote the memoir using personal journal excerpts to capture her experience — while she pursues a nursing degree and works at the hospital.
