Marquette County Search and Rescue located a 13-year-old who left home on an ATV at about 9:30 p.m. June 25 near Marquette County Road 581 & his ATV ran out of gas, ending a 25-mile search that safely returned him home.

The Friends of the Negaunee Public Library will hold its annual book sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 9 at the Negaunee Senior Citizens Center—purchases are by donation.

U.P. Kids held a fundraiser in Gwinn yesterday at Up North Lodge’s Party on the Patio and Bike Night to raise money for the What Matters Most Fund that helps cover extracurricular costs for children in care across the region, and the event offered locals a chance to sign up as foster parents.

On Sunday, Snowbound Books hosted a book signing for Suzanne Jacobs Lipshaw’s debut novel, Decoding the Moon, which follows two brothers coping with grief through rock climbing at local landmarks—such as the university wall and a noted rock formation.

Marquette Arts & Music Wellness Lions Club celebrated its first anniversary with a public fundraiser on June 24 at Blackrocks Brewery, where Lake Superior Community Partnership held a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Proceeds supported Northwoods Airlifeline in covering transportation for children traveling for cancer treatment.

Innovate Marquette SmartZone released its Impact Report covering fiscal year 2025 (Oct.

1, 2024 to Sept. 30, 2025). It said startups secured $3.2 million in follow-on funding, added 21 new clients and helped create 53 jobs in the area.

Partridge Creek Farm has opened registration for the 2026 Farm to School Summer Camp for Marquette County students in grades 5-8.

The camp runs Aug. 10-13 from 1-4 p.m. daily at the Ishpeming Middle School garden- students will learn gardening, cooking and food art to promote sustainable eating.

Residents in Marquette County can join Collect Marquette, a program by Travel Marquette that gives bags + gloves and prize entries to encourage local cleanup.
