Veterans marched at the Fourth of July parade on Saturday in Marquette.
The American Legion Post 44 Honor Guard (including two Purple Heart recipients) led the procession as residents celebrated unity and national pride.
Marquette celebrated Fourth of July by dedicating a new Freedom Monument at Harlow Park’s Veterans Memorial Mall.
Community members gathered to sing the national anthem as the monument, funded by the Katers family and inspired by Ron Katers, was unveiled to support education and civic engagement.
American Legion Post 44 dedicated two new granite monuments in Harlow Park Saturday that honor freedoms and veterans with phrases from historic documents; local officials and veteran groups collaborated to add the pieces to the city’s public art collection (a project inspired by a local arts committee).
