- ➤ The Marquette County Community Resource Fair offered free and discounted services plus educational opportunities and a Secretary of State mobile office last Thursday afternoon. Local groups provided additional support and community assistance — including workshop sign-ups — to residents. The Mining Journal
- ➤ Service organizations from Marquette County met Thursday afternoon at the Community Resource Forum led by Upper Peninsula Health Care Solutions and Upper Peninsula Health Plan to learn how to close gaps between medical care and social services. UPHCS Assistant Director Katrina Keough explained that the forum focused on using a new Community Information Exchange program to share medical records + social care details and improve referrals. - ➤ The Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential has awarded $16.5 million to open or expand 494 PreK classrooms to give every 4-year-old a free start—grant funds will cover classroom supplies, staffing, and facility improvements. The Mining Journal
- ➤ Leaders from Michigan’s education, labor and workforce sectors signed the Upper Peninsula Articulation Agreement at Bay College, which gives union apprentices advanced college credit toward an associate degree by requiring only 15 general education credits. The pact aims to boost local skilled trade opportunities—targeting 45,000 job openings by 2030—by aligning apprenticeship training with higher education. The Mining Journal
