- ➤ Menards in Marquette Township is supporting local food pantries by offering special drop-off points for non-perishable food until the end of July—store spokesman Daniel Staley said the program will benefit Hope Free Lutheran Church in Ishpeming. The Mining Journal
- ➤ Today, Dance Zone holds square dances from 6:30—8:30 p.m. at 1113 Lincoln Ave in Marquette and welcomes all who wish to learn the steps—Silver Sneakers members join free while non-members pay $3; participants must wear comfortable clothing and clean-soled shoes as a caller introduces new moves each dance. - ➤ On Saturday night, residents gathered at Lake Superior Theatre—organized by the Marquette Harbor Rotary Club—to attend its 33rd annual fish boil fundraiser that featured auctions, drinks, and fish while raising funds for local nonprofit grant programs. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The National Park Service vessel Peregrine ran aground early Saturday while transporting a visitor needing medical care along the north end of the Keweenaw Waterway in Hancock—Coast Guard boats rescued all aboard and the vessel was towed to Houghton with no fuel or oil leaks reported. - ➤ Aspen Ridge Middle School released its honor roll listing for grades 8, 7, and 6, naming students who earned all A’s and maintained a GPA of 3.0 or better. The list marks select top achievers with a * who earned a 4.0 rating. The Mining Journal
- ➤ Negaunee Public Schools released a detailed list of scholarships for students, including awards from local organizations & universities like the Negaunee City Fire Department and Northern Michigan University. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Marquette Area Public Schools Board of Education will hold a public hearing on the proposed 2025-2026 budget at 5:30 p.m. on June 23 at the Marquette Senior High School Library — a copy of the budget and proposed property tax millage rate can be reviewed at 1201 W. Fair Ave. during normal business hours. The Board will not adopt the budget until after this hearing. The Mining Journal
