  • At the 38th annual Bridgefest in Hancock, community members held fundraisers on Saturday to support Presley, a dog battling bone cancer whose Puppy Party raised funds for his treatment. The festival featured races, raffle baskets and a cornhole tournament organized by Houghton High School’s hockey team—bringing neighbors together in support of those in need.  Upper Michigan's Source
  • On Saturday morning, the D.J. Jacobetti Home for Veterans held a pancake breakfast fundraiser to raise money for its Charitable Support Fund that pays for activities like fishing trips+picnics and bingo for its residents.  Upper Michigan's Source
  • Today in Gwinn, the 19th Great Lakes Rodeo hosted youth barrel races where kids and their horses ran a cloverleaf course while vendors, bull riding, and a rodeo clown provided family-friendly fun — adding to a day full of local action.  Upper Michigan's Source

HEALTH NEWS

  • The 20th Hope Starts Here Challenge raised over $500,000 at the Superior Dome in Marquette to support brain tumor research at the Upper Michigan Brain Tumor Center. About 400 racers joined events including a half marathon, 31K, 10K, 5K, leisure walk, and kids’ run — the day ended with a free lunch and award ceremony.  Upper Michigan's Source
