On Sunday, the Kiwanis Club barbecued 1,700 chickens at Lakeview Arena as cars lined up waiting for a meal & volunteers from MSHS volleyball and club members helped out.
The funds raised will support local nonprofits & guide future projects by the club.
Michigan State Police are investigating reported threats made at Marquette Culver’s— the restaurant closed as a precaution and is scheduled to reopen today.
Tom Wender organized the inaugural Moni Wender Horse Pull to honor his late uncle’s love of draft horses; the event will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 14 on a family farm in Breitung Township.
Henry Wender will host the pull on a property one mile off Upper Pine Creek Road — 13 teams from local and Wisconsin have registered — and spectators are advised to bring their own seating.
Caving Grounds is a hardcore band from Marquette with Dane Branson on bass, Alex Wickstrom on guitar, Brandon Snyder on drums and Alex Watanen on vocals who released their EP Northern Desolation in January — they formed in summer 2023 and have built strong local support.
They perform at local venues such as The Crib and Kognisjon Bryggeri — and have toured the Midwest to share their punk sound with more fans.
