Little Brothers, Friends of the Elderly of Marquette is hosting a volunteer driver orientation at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 16 at its office at 131 W.
Washington St. Interested volunteers can call (906-273-2575) to reserve a spot for helping seniors with non-emergency rides.
The city and community partners celebrated new playground equipment at Giant’s Foot Park with a ribbon-cutting ceremony today — the project replaced two swing sets and added safe, accessible play features for local families.
Funding came from an annual rotary golf outing and city contributions.

41 Lumber announced that local marketing manager Tania Swanson was named to LBM Journal+ s 40 Under 40 class, recognizing her contributions since 2021 including leading the centennial campaign and enhancing projects at the Quinnesec flagship.

Marquette County aviators faced harsh training and mid-air collisions during World War I + later became celebrated local figures as Paul Bargh Cooley, Wallace Shorty Rowell and Robert Todd Young helped shape our community’s aviation legacy.

Northern Michigan University will debut in the sixth annual Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off hockey tournament in Milwaukee on Dec.
29 and 30 as tickets are now available — NMU joins Wisconsin, UMass and Arizona State in the four-team event.
About 40 racers competed on Sunday at Sands Speedway for its 57th annual season opener.
Veteran Gary Stanaway returned after a five-year hiatus and longtime racer Ray Keskimaki, who has 30 years of experience, enjoyed racing on the quarter-mile track (with a 20-foot grade difference) amid a supportive pit community.
