McLain State Park in Hancock Township is building an ADA inclusive playground—featuring artificial turf, a sensory dome, and climbing structures—to serve children of all abilities, and it is expected to be finished next week with help from the Michigan Army National Guard.

Women veterans will meet next Thursday, June 12 at 4 p.m. at Marquette American Legion Post 44 for an informal potluck (free to attend) to celebrate Women Veterans Day; organizers hope to expand the gatherings with regular events (such as group hikes and coffee socials) to strengthen bonds among veterans.
