- ➤ Bothwell Middle School students helped plant red, white + blue flowers on Front Street last Friday to mark America's 250th anniversary, and a follow-up planting is scheduled for today at 10 a.m. with a nearby traffic lane closed. Upper Michigan's Source
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has banned open debris burning in Upper Peninsula counties and parts of the Lower Peninsula until rain arrives next week as high fire danger persists and firefighting teams remain on standby for rapid response. The Mining Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Inspector Randal Danison retired after more than 31 years with Michigan State Police & worked at posts in L’Anse, Calumet and Wakefield. He earned awards for lifesaving and professional excellence and now looks forward to spending time with family. The Mining Journal
- ➤ Marquette announced road updates as crack sealing starts Friday (lasting two weeks by Payne and Dolan, Inc.) and milling and repaving begins Monday (set to last three weeks) along several roads.
