  • Forsyth Township hosted an EMS open house yesterday in Gwinn where first responders explained basic first aid as EMT Dan Novak demonstrated how to pack a wound with gauze and community-donated prizes were raffled. Paramedic Nicole Lemay said it was the EMS department's +first open house+ during her two years of service.  Upper Michigan's Source
  • Veterans organizations in Ishpeming are seeking volunteers to place American flags on veterans' graves for the Memorial Day ceremony. The work will occur from 3-6 p.m. Thursday, 22 May at the Ishpeming Cemetery—volunteers will meet at the sexton’s office/shop due to construction on Deer Lake Road.  The Mining Journal
  • A four-day vinyl record show will be held from May 22 through May 25 at Ore Dock Brewing Company’s second floor community room at 114 W. Spring St. where thousands of records, CDs, posters and more will be available.   • Lois Cady, a retired U.P. nurse raised in Munising, turned 100 on May 16th and received a living nurse tribute on May 18th in a gathering of family and friends. The tribute honored her for breaking barriers in nursing—an achievement that reshaped the field.  Upper Michigan's Source
  • Super One in Negaunee + Marquette has partnered with the Central UP CISM/Peer Support Team for a Round Up Campaign running from May 16 until June 2 to aid local first responders during Mental Health Awareness Month.
