- ➤ On Friday, May 15, 906 Adventure team kicked off its capital campaign for Gluski Park in downtown Marquette as a space for biking and walking. The park will honor founding member Tara Gluski, and the team has raised over $1.25 million toward a $2 million goal. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ The 31st annual Marquette County community baby shower was held Friday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, and more than 80 vehicles arrived as local supporters donated essential supplies and premium items to help new parents (volunteers and local churches led the contributions). - ➤ The West End Health Foundation awarded spring grants to local schools + organizations for health and education projects, funding a water filtration system, detox monitoring equipment and student mental health support. - ➤ AAA warns Michigan drivers that delaying fuel refills may lead to costly repairs & lower fuel economy as gas climbs to $4.83 a gallon; the group urges refilling before a quarter is reached ahead of busy Memorial Day travel. The Mining Journal

- ➤ The Michigan DNR warns that wildfire risk will remain high this weekend in the Upper Peninsula. They advise residents to limit campfires & cooking fires, keep any fires small and controlled, and call 911 immediately if a wildfire is seen. Upper Michigan's Source

- ➤ Local law enforcement and officials gathered at Negaunee High School today to honor 86 fallen officers, including those from Wisconsin and Canadian border agencies — a traveling plaque will remain at the Marquette County Sheriff's Office until next year's ceremony. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ UPPCO announced that buoy safety line installation at McClure and Dam 3 reservoirs will be delayed until early June due to high-water flow and active spillways. Residents are urged to exercise caution+ obey all posted warning signs near the facilities. Upper Michigan's Source
