- ➤ Marquette St. Vincent de Paul will host its annual Volunteer Appreciation event on Saturday. The program features a 4 p.m. mass at St. Peter Cathedral followed by a dinner and volunteer video to honor 200+ volunteers led by District President Karen Reese. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ 906 Adventure Team will host the Gluski Park Campaign Kickoff at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15 at 955 N Lakeshore Blvd, highlighting public fundraising and donations from local organizations. - ➤ Today, over 100 students and faculty at the Marquette alternative high school joined the happy little 5K at the Presque Isle pavilion and along the trail, paying $35 each to plant trees to combat beach erosion — part of an annual run honoring art teacher Bob Ross that expands nationally. - ➤ AARP of Michigan will open applications for the Michigan Age-Friendly Communities Grant Program on May 15, offering five nonprofits $10K each to improve outdoor spaces, transportation, housing accessibility, and socialization for residents 50 and older; awardees will be announced Aug. 31 and projects completed within 180 days. - ➤ The Lake Superior Art Association is hosting a free party to mark its 75th anniversary on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Marquette Regional History Center at 145 W. - ➤ U.P. State Fair received $103,000 in MDARD grants to repair the aging beef barn roof & support exhibitor premiums for the upcoming event scheduled August 17 to 23; the funding is the only grant awarded in the Upper Peninsula and helps keep the fairgrounds safe for year-round use. WZMQ 19
- ➤ Veterans join Town Hall meetings hosted by Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center this week in Marquette and Alger counties—Wednesday sessions start at 10:00 a.m. in Christmas, 2:30 p.m. in Big Bay, and 5:00 p.m. in Marquette, with Thursday meetings at 10:00 a.m. in Ishpeming and 2:00 p.m. in Gwinn. - ➤ Care Clinic in Marquette will hold its Life Walk event on Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Lower Harbor Park to raise funds & celebrate life, with walkers completing two laps and a ceremony honoring loved ones followed by a cookout. Upper Michigan's Source

- ➤ The Negaunee High School boys tennis team won the Kingsford Invitational on Friday at the Flivvers courts, edging Kingsford 28 to 26 with just four match losses; they will host Kingsford on Wednesday before heading to the Upper Peninsula Finals on May 27. The Mining Journal
- ➤ Two local bowlers were inducted into the Marquette County Bowling Hall of Fame on May 3 at River Rock Lanes in Ishpeming, and they were honored following a nomination process by the local bowling board + Chuck Pool and the late Jeanne Roidl received recognition for their contributions.
