More than 100 local volunteers and law enforcement searched near Starla Goings’ home in Munising on Saturday as the 65-year-old, missing since last August, remains the focus of an ongoing investigation (foul play is being considered).

The Finnish American Folk School held its second open house fundraiser in Hancock on Saturday, where attendees tried weaving, spinning, and crafting to support year-round programs and connect with the community.
Visitors also explored a craft material sale to find supplies & inspiration for future projects.

Anglers gathered for the 2026 Spring Shootout today on Lake Superior near Lower Harbor Park, where the South Shore Fishing Association showcased the biggest salmon, steelhead, brown trout, and lake trout, offering friendly competition & a kickoff to the new fishing season.
