- ➤ Applications are open for the 2025 Downtown Marquette Farmers Market, which is seeking farmers, growers, food producers, artisans, musicians, and local community organizations. Vendors may apply for Saturday morning and Wednesday night markets with flexible commitment options+ spaces fill on a first-come, first-served basis. The Mining Journal
- ➤ On Sunday, families and friends gathered at Presque Isle Park loop to enjoy sunny weather and hunt for agates (a cherished local pastime) after the loop opened for traffic on Friday for the season. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ On Mother's Day, the Marquette Elks Lodge will host a brunch buffet from 10 a.m.-Noon at 127 N. Front St. The buffet costs $15 per person — $10 for children 6 to 12 and will include scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, country fried potatoes, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, fresh fruit, coffee, tea and orange juice while adult beverages are available for an extra fee. - ➤ MoxieMoms held a Bereaved Mother’s Brunch at Saunders Point Brewing in Gladstone on Sunday, where grieving parents built bouquets with donated florals from Trotter’s Florals and Designs and board member Alyssa Murray said the event helped ease her loss. - ➤ On Friday, the Keweenaw Bay Ojibwa Community College held its 2025 Honors and Commencement Ceremony at the Niiwin Akeaa Center in Baraga, awarding 17 associate degrees and certificates in fields such as Anishinaabe studies, early childhood education, business administration, and environmental science to its largest graduating class while honoring interim president Megan Haataja with a culturally significant blanket. Speakers, including valedictorians, offered remarks on overcoming challenges and embracing culture —highlighting the college’s record enrollment and community support— as graduates prepared for future studies and work.
