- ➤ Today, Brookridge Heights partnered with Anchor Church to donate eight boxes of clothes gathered from residents, staff, and their families to people in need through the Open Drawer program (part of its Making Memories Campaign) (designed to strengthen community ties). Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ Marquette City Band officials said on April 23rd that they raised funds to build a new Peg Hirvonen Bandshell at Presque Isle Park because the old one was unsafe; a donation from the Ray + Peg Hirvonen Foundation started the project and more support will be needed through the band's website. - ➤ NMU's Spring Commencement will start at 10:30 a.m. May 3 at the Superior Dome with 1,250 graduating students and 1,050 walking—NMU Chief Marketing Officer Derek Hall stated. - ➤ The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has awarded 21 Rural Development Fund Grants totaling $1.8 million, with more than half the funds directed at U.P. projects including Partridge Creek Farm, which received $100,000 to add a hoop house and improve drainage—over 10 other projects will benefit from upgrades to solar paneling, water safety, food distribution, and sewer repairs. - ➤ National Drug Take Back Day will let residents drop off expired prescription pills at local law enforcement offices from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, and volunteer Rich Johnson & Lt. Ben Eckola explained the drop-off locations during a local radio interview. Sunny 101.9

- ➤ Michigan health officials urge parents during National Infant Immunization Week to ensure toddlers receive all needed vaccines as measles cases continue rising across the nation—Michigan recently reported new cases and only 57% of toddlers are fully vaccinated.
