About 100 local gardeners gathered last Saturday at Bay College in Escanaba for the annual Bay de Noc Gardening Conference.
They attended 20 classes that taught skills from pruning apple trees to managing pests (helping them prepare for spring gardening).

Marquette County Emergency Management and Michigan State Police issued flood safety guidelines last Saturday, advising residents to avoid flooded basements, test water levels before pumping (following proper procedures), and refrain from walking or driving through moving floodwaters.

Guts Frisbee held its spring tournament Saturday, with 16 eight-person teams competing for the Bill Beckman Under the Dome title.
The event honored longtime supporter Bill Beckman and will be followed by the Wisconsin Guts Championship on July 13-14 in Neenah.
