- ➤ Northern Michigan University students host the 8th annual Marquette Coffee Crawl tomorrow from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. downtown, raising funds for the Marquette Women’s Center with a $10,000 goal. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ AAUW will host its spring book sale; donation barrels remain available through Monday, Apr. 21 at local sites including Embers Credit Union and First Presbyterian Church. A drive-up drop-off event runs Friday from 2-6 p.m. at 120 N. Front St + the sale starts with a pre-sale Thursday, Apr. 23. The Mining Journal
- ➤ Camp New Day is now accepting registrations for a summer camp that offers arts and crafts, boating, and field trips for children with an incarcerated parent. The camp will run from July 20 through 24 for ages 9 to 11 and from July 27 through 31 for ages 12 to 14, and volunteers + donations are still needed. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ Copper Shores and Keweenaw Community Foundations invested $150,000 to expand the Rx Kids parent support program in the western U.P., which gives expecting parents $1,500 during pregnancy and $500 monthly for six months (121 families have enrolled across four counties since last week). - ➤ Lake Superior Community Partnership announced Monday that Natalie Chmiko was selected as its new CEO and will work with outgoing chief Christopher Germain until she assumes full responsibilities in May. - ➤ The 30th annual Celebration of Student Scholarship at NMU in Marquette showcased research posters, oral presentations, and creative work from both undergraduate and graduate students. - ➤ Marquette Senior High School baseball earned its first win of the season with an 11-7 comeback at Menominee on April 16.
