- ➤ The Zonta Club of the Marquette Area announced its 5th Annual Honor a Woman event will take place at NMU's Northern Center from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m. on April 28, with keynote speaker Stephanie Graef and emcees Elizabeth Peterson and Jennifer Perez hosting the event. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ UPAWS is hosting its annual Cause for Paws Gala this Saturday, Apr. 18 at Ore Dock Brewing Company, featuring a live auction, raffles, local appetizers, music and its awards ceremony. Tickets cost $50 per person (tables are available for $180 for four or $250 for six). Sunny 101.9

- ➤ On Monday afternoon, flooding hit a residential area on Division Street in Negaunee as warm weather increased flood risks in the region; local emergency management advised residents in low-lying areas to safeguard valuables and follow safe pumping procedures (per National Weather Service guidance). - ➤ Michigan Attorney General Nessel is sharing tips to help residents avoid scam calls and texts and will reissue alerts during Money Smart Week next week to remind locals to block unwanted contacts and verify information (follow Consumer Protection on social media for updates). The Mining Journal

- ➤ Marquette City Commission approved the updated plan for the Vault Hotel during a 5 to 1 vote. The new plan calls for a 5-story Hilton hotel on South Lakeshore Boulevard with work on the old bank building postponed & parking reduced to an 80-space outdoor lot. WZMQ 19

- ➤ NMU women’s lacrosse lost 8-9 on senior day when a disallowed goal handed the win to Grand Valley in Marquette & the team now faces three road matches starting April 19. WZMQ 19
- ➤ 906 Adventure Team is holding an open house today at Ore Dock Brewing Company (6:30 to 8:00 p.m.) for residents to meet staff; another is set for Thursday, Apr. 16 (noon to 7:00 p.m.) at 955 North Lakeshore Boulevard ahead of season registration opening on Apr. 18. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ Guts Frisbee Spring Indoor Tournament will take place at Superior Dome on April 18 from noon to 11 p.m. Over 90 players will compete with a $25 fee for participants while entry remains free for spectators and newcomers. Upper Michigan's Source

- ➤ Northern Michigan University men will tee off one day later than originally planned. Their GLIAC Championship play will begin Thursday at Stoatin Brae Golf Course at Gull Lake View Golf Resort, while the women's event will start on Friday at Stonehedge North at the same resort.
