Families gathered at the Forsyth Township Fire Department in Gwinn on Sunday for a free car seat check event hosted by U.P.
Family Doula, where certified technicians helped parents measure and install car seats correctly (checking expiration dates and strap snugness). Robert Camperschroer, who brought his daughter Maeve, learned key tips to keep his child secure when riding in a car.
🏛️ Government
U.P. Representatives Dave Prestin and Karl Bohnak introduced two bills that would let natural gas RICE generators continue running—meant to protect Yoopers from higher energy costs despite a 2023 law requiring a phase-out by 2040.
The House Energy Committee will vote on the proposals Tuesday—and if approved, they will move through both chambers before reaching Governor Whitmer’s desk.
