- ➤ Donations for the AAUW spring sale (supporting academic scholarships for women and girls) are being collected through Wednesday, April 21 for an event scheduled from April 23-25 at the Marquette Presbyterian Church; drop-off bins are also available at local banks and the Marquette Medical Center offices. - ➤ Marquette Community Gardens offers several garden beds for rental for the 2026 gardening season at Park Cemetery and Presque Isle Park — beds cost $25 per season and are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with free beds offered for youth organizations. The Mining Journal
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ During Friday's GLIAC game at the Superior Dome, NMU lacrosse player Josie Lakosky tied records for nine goals and 13 points in a 21-4 win over Davenport. The Wildcats now hold a 10-3 overall mark and face additional matchups on Sunday. The Mining Journal
- ➤ Northern Michigan University senior Matthew Argentina signed a professional contract with the Iowa Heartlanders (ECHL affiliate of Minnesota Wild and Iowa Wild) after the Wildcats season ended in early March, becoming the fourth player to turn pro. He played 103 games for NMU, scoring 10 goals and 14 assists. The Mining Journal
