- ➤ Food pantries in Marquette face supply chain challenges as rising fuel prices force Feeding America West Michigan and the Salvation Army to spend an extra $7,000 per month on fuel — reducing funds available for 28,000 meals while continuing planned deliveries. Upper Michigan's Source

- ➤ Voters in Baraga, Houghton and Keweenaw counties will decide on a 10-year, 0.9797 mill renewal for funding CCISD's Career and Technical Education programs on May 5. CCISD Superintendent Jim Rautiola said the measure continues current funding while local businesses credit the program with boosting workforce skills and economic growth. The Mining Journal

- ➤ Superior Wildlife Rehab advises residents to be cautious when approaching wild animals and to contact licensed facilities if an animal shows clear signs of injury or distress. The center explains that intervening without proper knowledge can lead to further harm. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ The DNR said rising spring temperatures + thawing ice are causing natural fish deaths today in Marquette lakes and streams. State biologist Jeremiah Blaauw advised residents to report multi-species deaths with lesions or blood as a precaution. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ Marquette’s Blue-Spotted Salamander Migration Project along Peter White Drive is delayed due to unusually heavy snow, and NMU Biology Department Head Jill Leonard said researchers will measure the salamanders & gather new data when migration is expected to begin around April 8. WZMQ 19

- ➤ Marquette-based state officials launched MIMoneyMatters.org today to support National Financial Awareness Month; the website offers videos, interactive tools, and articles on credit, banking, and planning, and high school students will soon need to take a personal finance course to graduate. - ➤ UPPCO warns that heavy snow, sleet, wind and ice could lead to power outages today and tomorrow in the Upper Peninsula. Customers are advised to keep a safe distance from downed lines (maintaining at least 35 feet) and report outages via customer service as wait times may be longer. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ Ishpeming City Council met after a rescheduled session to honor its DPW crews for clearing roads during a severe blizzard, awarding each worker two extra personal days for over 4000 hours of overtime. The measure recognized the crews’ dedication to restoring safe travel. WZMQ 19
- ➤ Boaters in Marquette had to get a seasonal launch permit beginning Wednesday to launch at Cinder Pond or Presque Isle marinas. Permits cost $80 and can be purchased at Lakeview Arena Parks + Recreation office, the Treasurer’s office, or at Cinder Pond Marina from May 4, while daily permits are available in red launch boxes.
