- ➤ Marquette County Habitat for Humanity is hosting Bingo night on Monday, May 11 at The Mather in Ishpeming to raise funds for affordable housing. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the event features nine games, prizes, a 50/50 drawing & a cash bar. The Mining Journal
- ➤ Marquette Senior Center is hosting free events for seniors throughout April, including a bingo game at 1 p.m. on April 1, pharmacy office hours, a rock climbing event, and an advanced directives workshop in partnership with Lake Superior Healthcare & Hospice. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ Marquette United Way is hosting two free egg hunts for families. The city-wide hunt began Monday and offers prize baskets from local businesses, while the children’s hunt at Presque Isle will start at 11 a.m. Saturday with 7000 candy-filled eggs hidden + the events welcome participants of all ages. - ➤ Ever Esta’s Dress Shop is remembered as a cherished local business that sold elegant Easter bonnets and hats 1959-1978. Founder Everesta Steele moved the shop to 727 N. Third Street in 1968, helping shape Marquette’s spring traditions and community spirit. The Mining Journal

- ➤ Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced today that more than 153,000 Michigan students received over $558.9 million in state financial aid during the 2024-2025 academic year, marking a 30.4% increase over the previous year. - ➤ AAA spokeswoman Adrienne Woodland warns spring break travelers to use caution on slippery roads and advises drivers to rotate tires and replace wipers for better traction. - ➤ The Michigan House passed a bill to ban kratom today, which prohibits sale and distribution (aimed at curbing overdose risks); the measure now heads to the Senate where lawmakers plan to meet with local business owners and users to review its impact.
