  • Marquette County West End Youth Center held a donation-based rummage sale to raise funds to bring the Boys and Girls Club to the area— the club will help offer an after-school program that gives kids homework help and a meal. Founder Rose Chivens said the club will visit in May to support a safe and fun space for kids when not in school.  Upper Michigan's Source
  • UP resident Jean Baggiore (born in Gwinn on March 26th) celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday in Ishpeming with family and friends. She remembered a day in Detroit when a police officer stopped her and a friend for jaywalking and said her secret to a long life is having good friends, a clear mind and a little wine each day.  Upper Michigan's Source

  • On Friday, a Waymo self-driving car drove around Marquette during an ice storm warning as part of tests to gauge how its system handles winter weather—Alphabet said it will continue these tests in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula in 2025 without promising a new robotaxi service.  Upper Michigan's Source
