COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The 24th annual Chocolay Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday, Apr. 4 at Silver Creek Church in Harvey, where it will run from 11:15 a.m. to noon (with 8,000 eggs hidden for up to 400 children) and offer refreshments.  Upper Michigan's Source
  • United Way will host a free six-day Easter Egg hunt starting Mar. 30 in Marquette—hunters can follow clues on Facebook to find twelve hidden eggs—and the event concludes with a children’s hunt in Presque Isle on Apr. 4.  Upper Michigan's Source
  • The annual U.P. Boat Sport and RV show started Friday at the Superior Dome and will run through Sunday as more than 60 vendors display outdoor recreation gear including boats, RVs, and off-road vehicles; vendors are also offering spring sales.  Upper Michigan's Source
  • Room at the Inn is hosting a homeless awareness concert and Q and A (Ore Dock) on April 4 with panelists speaking at 6:30 p.m. and music playing from 8 to 11 p.m. to help residents understand local homelessness.  Upper Michigan's Source
  • Marquette residents can reserve a spot at the Free Community Easter Dinner on Easter Sunday at Ishpeming Elks Lodge from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. The event offers dine-in, take-out, and a new delivery option for the county; reservations must be made by calling (906) 451-4951 by Friday, Apr. 3 at 3:00 p.m.  Sunny 101.9

  • Mares-Z-Doats in Marquette is adjusting for rising pet food prices by lowering margins & offering discounts. The store also features a frequent buyer program that rewards customers with a free bag of pet food as they continue to purchase.  WZMQ 19

CULTURE NEWS

  • Music fans can explore thousands of vinyl records, CDs, and cassettes at Blackrocks Brewery tomorrow from Noon to 11:00 p.m. Organized by Geoff and the Northern Michigan University Vinyl Record Club, the free all-ages record show offers a fun way to discover new sounds.  WZMQ 19
  • The Marquette Regional History Center is digitizing archival photos and documents at the Ishpeming Carnegie Library (marking the centennial) of the Barnes-Hecker Mine Disaster to help the community access this history.   • Peter White Public Library has added a new selection of Fantasy Teen Books including titles such as 'Until the Clock Strikes Midnight' and 'Her Hidden Fire' — available now with a subscription starting at $3.23/week. HEALTH NEWS

  • After a historic blizzard last week, UP Health System-Marquette kept its emergency services running 24/7 and tested its preparedness through drills while county emergency managers coordinated with community partners to supply shelter.   • The Lake Superior Community Partnership held Breakfast & Business at the Marquette Holiday Inn, focusing on U.P. Healthcare updates and federal policy changes affecting employment and technology.   • On March 27, 2026, Active Physical Therapy in Marquette featured assistant Brooke Chapman on Mark + Walt in the Morning as she clarified misconceptions about physical therapy and emphasized that early treatment may reduce the need for extensive care, noting that movement is medicine and imaging does not always tell the whole story.  Sunny 101.9
