The NMU Cosmetology Department held its 3rd annual Lucky You Spa Day fundraiser on March 21 to benefit the Marquette Women's Center by offering spa treatments and brunch at Suite 1205 of the Northern Center on campus—appointments were available by calling 9062272386 or emailing [email protected] and walk-ins were welcome with a suggested $35 donation requested.

The Ore Dock Brewing Co. held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, March 21 for its new Trestle— a two-story cocktail lounge and beer garden attached to the brewery.

The new space offers an expanded menu of house-distilled cocktails, Michigan wine, and draft beers and will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Amelia’s Craft Market and Boutique opened in downtown Marquette in October 2022 when owner Amelia McDonald and her husband created a space to sell their woodwork and local art.

The shop now offers products from about 30 local creators, including Michigan beers, wines, jewelry, stained glass and hand-painted art (and supports other woman-owned ventures in the UP).

Tonight, 'My Sister', a short film written and produced by Dan Aho, premiered at the Marquette Regional History Center.

The film was shot at local sites — including Teal Lake and Negaunee — and stars NMU alumni Jessica Red Bays and Han Numinen as sisters estranged by addiction.
