The 41st annual Pigs-N-Heat charity hockey game in Marquette drew a large crowd on Wednesday as law enforcement and firefighters played against each other on the ice.

The event has raised over $500,000 in 41 years—this year the Pigs won 6-5 while officials celebrated top community heroes.

The Bowl For Kids’ Sake event will benefit Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Central Upper Peninsula as teams of 3 to 6 people bowl two games and each member donates $100 while receiving a t-shirt.

The event will be held at Superior Entertainment Center on Saturday, April 5 with shifts starting at 3:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church of Marquette received a $135K matching grant from the National Fund for Sacred Places to repair its damaged sandstone—repair work will include tuckpointing the original hand-cut blocks and applying water sealant.

The church must raise another $135K before receiving the funds as it prepares to mark its 150th anniversary.
