- ➤ The Builders Show wrapped up on Sunday in Marquette as 3,000 visitors explored over 200 vendor booths and sought remodeling quotes after heavy snow damage. Organizers said the event strengthened local ties+ brought homeowners and builders together for in-person connections. Upper Michigan's Source
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Yesterday, Marquette Mountain hosted the 28th Annual Hornbogen Ski Races — 140 athletes raced in downhill, Super G, giant slalom, and slalom events. The fundraiser raised about $7,000 to benefit the local racing team and the Francine Malindzak Scholarship Fund. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ Michigan Tech's men's basketball team, ranked 15th, lost 82-70 to 25th Grand Valley State in the GLIAC Semifinal at Vandament Arena Saturday afternoon; the Huskies started slowly and fell behind as GVSU built a 20-point lead in the second half. WZMQ 19
- ➤ Northern Michigan University’s men’s basketball team beat Lake Superior State 79-67 on Saturday at Vandament Arena in Marquette to reach Sunday’s GLIAC championship; forward Dylan Kuehl led with 25 points (the Wildcats improved to 27-5). The Mining Journal
- ➤ Grand Valley State Lakers beat NMU Wildcats 67-57 in the GLIAC Tournament in Marquette as NMU rallied from a 19-point second-half deficit before falling short; the Wildcats now await their NCAA Tournament opponent. WZMQ 19
- ➤ Northern Michigan University's Wildcats enjoyed a big night on Friday as forward Dylan Kuehl earned GLIAC Player and Defensive Player of the Year honors and coach Matt Majkrzak won Coach of the Year (his second), capping off a record 27-5 season and co-championship with Michigan Tech. - ➤ No. 20 Michigan Tech beat Bowling Green 3-2 Saturday at John MacInnes Student Ice Arena to sweep the quarterfinal series and advance to the CCHA semifinals. They will learn their next opponent Sunday evening (details pending). WZMQ 19
