- ➤ The Builders Show is taking place at Superior Dome today through Sunday. The Home Builders Association of the U.P. & Window Outfitters are preparing to showcase building products and local industry solutions for trade professionals. Sunny 101.9
- ➤ At 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, the Up North Lodge in Gwinn will host a polar plunge to raise money for Special Olympics Michigan — registration is free but a $100 donation earns the official sweatshirt along with lunch and prize incentives. The Mining Journal
- ➤ René Goyen was honored today for 35 years at McDonald’s in Ishpeming and Marquette, where she greets customers with a smile and keeps the restaurant clean. At 62, she said she is not planning to retire anytime soon (she loves every moment of her work). The Mining Journal
- ➤ Margery celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday, Feb. 28 with a parade down Clark St that featured police cars, a fire truck & an ambulance. Five generations of family and friends gathered to honor her milestone in the house she has called home since 1954 after moving from Iron Mountain. The Mining Journal

- ➤ Another section of Westwood Mall's roof collapsed Wednesday night, damaging Halloween Superstores; co-owner Mike Kaminski (with his wife) said he is still deciding whether to remain at the mall while urging support for local businesses. Upper Michigan's Source

- ➤ Downtown Marquette Restaurant Week begins Sunday, Mar. 8 and runs through Mar. 14, featuring breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner menus from 13 local restaurants (more are joining) along with a gift card giveaway hosted by the Marquette DDA. Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ A vinyl record show will take place at Blackrocks Brewery (424 N. Third St.) downtown on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28 from noon to 11 p.m., offering thousands of new and used records, CDs, posters, cassettes, books and t-shirts at this free all-ages event hosted by the NMU Vinyl Record Club. - ➤ Marquette Symphony Orchestra will perform opera favorites at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 7 in Kaufman Auditorium. The program features selections from William Tell, Baby Doe and Orpheus, plus guest vocalists presenting Carmen suites, with tickets starting at $20 at the Superior Dome or NMU’s website. WZMQ 19

- ➤ State leaders are celebrating School Breakfast Week by highlighting a free school meal program that serves 1.4 million public school students. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer is proposing to make the meals permanent as lawmakers debate funding & program sustainability. WZMQ 19

- ➤ Marquette County will take over FBO duties at Sawyer Regional Airport on May 1 as part of a plan to save money and improve services. In related news, United Airlines will begin service to Chicago on May 21, potentially lowering fares for airport travelers. WZMQ 19
- ➤ Governor Whitmer has appointed Susan Corbin and Glenn Stevens Jr. to join the NMU Board of Trustees effective Jan. 1, 2027, replacing trustees whose terms expire Dec. 31. Corbin is director of the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity, and Stevens has long supported NMU through advisory roles. Upper Michigan's Source

- ➤ UP Health System – Marquette is the first in the Upper Peninsula to offer the Intracept® Procedure for vertebrogenic pain treatment using radiofrequency energy on the basivertebral nerve in an hour-long outpatient session (for patients with chronic low back pain unresponsive to six months of conservative care). The Mining Journal
- ➤ On Wednesday, Superior Health Foundation awarded $299,292 in grants to seven Upper Peninsula agencies to support behavioral, maternal and infant health projects and care access. Munising Memorial Hospital received $75,000 for a Mobile Health Unit and Lac Vieux Desert Health Center got a $6,900 Equipment Grant. The Mining Journal
