- ➤ UPAWS is seeking nominations for the 2026 Awards — including the Assisi, Sliver Tag, Gold Heart, and Purple Paw Awards — to honor Yoopers and their pets for animal care; submit one-page pdf nominations by email as winners will be announced March 20 at the Cause for Paws Gala. - ➤ Honey Bear Classic will hold its 37th annual ski and snowshoe fundraiser on Valentine's Day at 10 a.m. at Big Bay Pathway to raise funds for local trail maintenance; participants can later warm up by the fire and enjoy dinner at Thunder Bay Inn (supporting Powell Township trails).
