- ➤ A bus ride called Mush Bus will take UP200 fans to Grand Marais on Saturday, Feb. 14, departing at 11 a.m. from the Holiday Inn next to Wendy’s and stopping at Munising’s Falling Rock Cafe around noon; fewer than 22 seats remain at $40 each and must be reserved in advance. - ➤ The Downtown Marquette Farmers Market seeks vendors, growers, food producers, artisans and musicians for the 2026 season. Applicants can choose flexible participation and should apply before April online — the market runs on Saturdays and Wednesday nights from May through October. The Mining Journal
- ➤ The U.P. Children's Museum celebrated its 23rd Culinary Journey with local chefs offering signature dishes at a free-form tasting event with live music, and proceeds helped fund the museum's programs. WZMQ 19
- ➤ Donations are being sought for the Neeley family after a fire destroyed their M95 home Friday night, forcing lane closures while crews fought the blaze; Tom, Sarah and Cole Neeley lost all their belongings, with their GoFundMe page raising $3,000 of a $9,000 goal. The Mining Journal

- ➤ The Marquette Fire Department warned residents not to venture onto the frozen lower harbor after a person fell through thin ice on Monday morning (the victim escaped safely by using proper techniques) as cold snap conditions left the ice unpredictable. WZMQ 19
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ MTU's 'Our Lady of the Snows' ice chapel nears completion ahead of Winter Carnival; builders have used abundant snowfall to expand plans. The chapel will host three masses—Friday at 5:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. and Saturday at 10 a.m. (located beside St. Albert the Great church in the lower parking lot on MacInnes Drive). - ➤ Wintergreen Hill Gallery is hosting the Northern Flora and Fauna Show on Feb. 28, where 18 local artists will display and sell their work; the event runs from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and offers hot tea (and cider) to guests. Upper Michigan's Source
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ After a grand opening this weekend, NMU Beaumier Heritage Center relocated to Harden Hall and now offers a year-round exhibit on early university history plus a temporary display on The Conservationists featuring archival materials. WZMQ 19
- ➤ Aspen Ridge Middle School—located in IshpeMing—released its second term honor roll today, naming grade 8 students with all As and grades 6 and 7 students who achieved a 3.0 GPA or better. The Mining Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Hunters in Marquette can now use the Michigan DNR Hunt Fish app to validate kill tags for deer, bear, and other animals during the season. Officials say the new feature works without cell coverage and avoids issues with lost physical tags (an improvement over postal delays). Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ On Jan. 20, Rep. Jack Bergman sent a letter to the Postmaster General asking why mail delivery in the western UP (areas like Iron Mountain and Kingsford) is slow and affecting essential bills and documents. He set a 30-day deadline for a reply. The Mining Journal
- ➤ Michigan DNR announced $200,000 is available for a grant program that will improve deer habitat on private lands in the U.P. Applications must be received by Friday, March 6 (with notifications by March 27) as part of the updated initiative. The Mining Journal
