COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Robbins Flooring staff visited Aspen Ridge Middle School on Monday to view the new 11,000 sqft court in the school’s auxiliary gym. The visit brought pride to the team & the school, which is set to host its first game on Feb. 19. WZMQ 19
- ➤ Meditate Marquette will host a Gathering in Difficult Times on Friday, Feb. 6 to offer three free mindfulness sessions that help people process anger, fear, sadness, and uncertainty. Organizers invite community members to attend at different times (10-11:30 a.m., noon-1 p.m., and 2:30-4 p.m.) with donations accepted. The Mining Journal
- ➤ At the Lower Harbor Ore Dock, visitors can skate on about 6 inches of ice as winter conditions allow safe, fun outdoor play — users are urged to check for hidden cracks. Parking is available along the north side of Marquette One Place. WZMQ 19

- ➤ AT&T reported service outages on Monday in parts of the Upper Peninsula, but emergency 911 calls were not affected. TV6 is monitoring the situation for further updates. Upper Michigan's Source
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Ore Dock Brewing Company will host its twelfth Festival of the Angry Bear on Saturday, April 11 in downtown Marquette. The event returns after a break caused by the company's expansion project and will bring thousands downtown for a spirited weekend celebration. The Mining Journal
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A GasBuddy survey of 4,913 Michigan stations shows that the average gasoline price has dropped 10.5 cents to $2.83 per gallon today, though prices are 0.6 cents higher than last month and 21.7 cents lower than a year ago. National diesel prices, however, increased by 7.8 cents per gallon. The Mining Journal
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Preschool storytime is offered at the Peter White Public Library Great Room in Marquette from 10-10:30 a.m. on select Tuesdays and Fridays in February (Feb. 3, 6, 10, 13, 17, 20, 24, 27). The program features stories, songs and crafts for preschoolers and a parent at no cost. The Mining Journal
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A bill to permit farmers to sell raw milk directly to consumers passed the House Government Operations committee and heads to the floor. Lawmakers will soon debate safety concerns—some warn of health risks while others say proper handling can keep milk safe. Upper Michigan's Source
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Hospitals in U.P. are concerned that new federal funding changes (under the Rural Health Transformation Program) may reduce support for rural care as a broadened 'rural' definition lets larger centers apply.
