- ➤ Yesterday, Feeding America West Michigan hosted two drive-thru food pantry events — one at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique starting at 10 a.m. and another at Munising Wesleyan Church beginning at noon, with volunteers from The Salvation Army of Marquette County assisting families. - ➤ UPAWS will host Raise the Woof & a comedy tour traveling the area on Friday and Saturday to raise funds for its no-kill shelter as it houses many pets on special hold. The event is making its debut in Gwinn and will later expand to other communities in Marquette County. WZMQ 19
- ➤ St. Vincent de Paul is hosting a fundraiser at the Marquette thrift store on Friday for Leanne Swan's family, who lost their home and belongings to a fire after Swan was injured rescuing her son (now recovering at the University of Michigan Burn Center). The Mining Journal

- ➤ The Marquette County Road Commission reported nearly 9,000 tons of salt in reserve with 1,800 tons en route after Tuesday’s delivery from Escanaba. - ➤ State health experts report rising cases of influenza, RSV, and pertussis with increased hospitalizations in Upper Michigan, and they urge families to update immunizations (AAP and AAFP guidelines support this effort). Upper Michigan's Source
- ➤ AAA urges drivers to adopt safer driving habits this year after Michigan State Police data showed over 280,000 crashes statewide in 2024, including nearly 1,100 fatal ones, as the SAFER by 2030 initiative aims to reduce road deaths by 30 percent. Upper Michigan's Source
